Damages of reinforced concrete structures occur as a result of excessive loading, multiple freezing and thawing of saturated concrete, chemical effect of seawater. The typical damages of reinforced concrete piles are cracks, concrete chips, corrosion and mechanical damage of the reinforcement bars, complete destruction of piles cross-section. In the majority of cases damages are located in the zone of variable water level.
Typical damages
Repair works in the zone of variable water level are performed in air-dry conditions using patented special underwater equipment - hermetic chamber.
Works are performed keeping the structures in operational conditions.

Basic technological operations
The scope of work and repair techniques for reinforced concrete rectangular and tubular cross-section piles are determined by the degree of damages. The most common techniques are the injection of cracks, anticorrosive protection of exposed reinforcement, replacing or adding reinforcement, replacing of damaged concrete by application of reprofiling compounds, application of protective coatings.
Repair works on reinforced concrete piles were carried out in the ports of Tallinn, Ventspils, Kaliningrad, Odessa, Illichevsk. Monitoring of the condition of the repaired constructions conducted by specialists of GT Corporation confirms that at 5 - 10 years after repairs concrete surfaces do not have defects and damages.
