After completing dredging operations on one of the piers, significant deformations and displacements of the quay walls have been observed. Structurally, the pier was a double-wall cofferdam structure.
Strengthening of the structure had to be performed keeping the pier in operational conditions.
Strengthening of the structure had to be performed keeping the pier in operational conditions
For strengthening of the pier’s structures were installed additional anchor rods tied underwater to the sheet pile wall at a depth of 2.0 m.
Scheme
The additional anchor rods were installed using trenchless method from outside the sheet pile wall from the hermetic chamber (special patented underwater equipment), which was installed against the structure and allowed performing the works below the water level in “air-dry” environment.

In all, 48 anchor rods were installed, allowing to restore the structure’s design bearing capacity and stability.
